Christmas.... is it a time to forgive and forget?

Does Christmas is a time to forgive and forget? Well, maybe it is but there are such things that we can forgive but to forget.... its not easy especially if it left something hurty  in you... Which sometimes makes you absent minded... But there are also things that which is easy to forget. Christmas is a matter of forgiving .....

Christmas

What is Christmas for you all about? Christmas is one of my favorite time in the year. It makes me feel like I was in the time of Adam and Eve. Christmas means to me as sharing and loving.
This is the time to forget all the bad times or problems that you encounter this year. Leaving them all. The time to thank GOD that He gave us trials, for this trials make us strong and never give-up...

Human vs Computer

It seems obvious that despite 3 or 4 decades of research on Machine Learning, the ability of computers to learn is far inferior to that of humans. As a result it seems natural to choose as a goal for learning algorithms to match human performance.
However, is it really fair to compare computer learning with human learning? Or, more precisely, how should they be compared in order to have an objective assessment of their respective abilities?
Here are some remarks that one should have in mind before making such a comparison:
First of all, it is well known that, theoretically speaking, there is no better algorithm: if you look at all the possible problems, and compare any two algorithms, there will be exactly one half of the problems on which the first algorithm will do a better job than the second one. In other terms, there is no algorithm that systematically outperforms the other algorithms on all problems. It is thus pointless to compare learning algorithms in general. So in order to make a meaningful comparison, one should first select a limited number of problems of interest. The natural class of problems in our case would be to consider all the learning problems that humans are coping with: e.g. speech recognition, object recognition, motor learning...Having a list of such problems would make a reasonable benchmark on which learning algorithms could be evaluated and compared to human performance.
Of course, on all these tasks the algorithms we have built so far are unable to match (or in certain cases even get close to) human performance.Does it mean our algorithms are bad?I would tend to think rather the opposite: they are very good and much better than humans in many respects. In my opinion, the reason why they do not get good success rates on those problems that are trivially solved by humans is that they don't have access to the same information and they are not given the right "priors"
Human brains are genetically designed for solving certain types of learning problems. For example, there are plenty of hard wiring in the visual system that makes object recognition easy for humans. Also, for most "human learning" tasks, when we build a database of examples to be given to a computer, we only give a very limited amount of information to the computer. For example, when humans start to learn to recognize hand written characters, they already have a visual system that has been extensively trained to recognize all sorts of shapes. Imagine someone who has been blind from birth who suddenly recovers sight at the age of 6 and is directly put in front of handwritten characters on a screen, and asked to classify them. I would suspect that he would not get a better accuracy than existing learning algorithms.
A similar but more realistic example could be constructed as follows. Imagine you are presented with images of handwritten characters whose pixels have been shuffled in a deterministic way. For vector-based learning algorithms this would not make any difference (they would still get some good predictive accuracy), while for humans it would be completely impossible to reach any reasonable level of generalization.
Yet another example to illustrate the kind of task that computers are faced with is the spam classification. It is clear that humans are better at classifying spam vs non-spam emails. The reason is that they "understand" what the emails mean and this is because of years of language training. So now, imagine you are given 200 emails written in chineese among which 100 are spam and 100 non-spam. Do you think someone who has never had any training about chineese language would be able to reach the kind of generalization accuracy a computer would?
The examples above illustrate how little information computers have when they are faced with a supervised learning task. It seems reasonable to assume that humans faced with similar tasks would not be much better.
The above discussion aims at emphasizing the importance of "having the right prior". To some extent, building an algorithm essentially means designing a prior, and designing a prior can only be done with respect to a class of problems (there is no "universal" prior). Designing a prior (which also means choosing an appropriate representation of the data) actually allows to introduce a large amount of information into the learning algorithm. Most human learning tasks are tasks that require a lot of information and this is why computers usually fail on those.

The Halloween

Halloween is one  of another  busy days here in our place. During this time, we go to our granparents house. This is really what we did eveytime when this holiday come. Its a part of our culture that we will all went to our grandparents house. We did fun chats. And we watched movies.

During the night, we all agreed to watched a horror movie. Then there goes, we all break into hestirical shout... because everytime the ghost show in the screen it makes our skin feel cold like someone holding us. And we also feel that somewhere in the dark place there they are wating for us..... grrrrrrrr......... After the movie, we did some talk and chating about more horror movies. After that we all, its time to sleep but.... the problem is we all scared to sleep alone in our room. So, what we did was we all sleep in one room. Though it make us fit so much... And until out room, we still talking to what we have seen in the movie.... I think I fell asleep already past midnight........

Happy Halloween to all....

My Happiest Moment with my Mother

Today, is Saturday. My mother has just arrived from my grandparents house.
Today, I consider it as the happiest moment with my mother. Why? Well, it is because its already been a long time that we hadnt given time to chit-chat with each other. Now, we are in the sala talking for my Kuya (means eldest brother), when my younger brother recall the past happy moments when we are still a kid, we all came up in a hard laughter.

Suddenly, our topic has change, and now we are exchanging joke stories and scenes. And we all die laughing. After more a half an hour my mother joined us. And she also make jokes. That was the first time I saw my mother laughing to hard that she even cry and said "Stop, I can hardly breath. My stomach is already aching." As I recall her voice covers all our voice when she laugh. She has the biggest voice of all. I can even see her throat enside..heeheehee.

Well, I hope that there will be another time for us be like this. And I really love it, talking to my parents, with my brother and sister...

The very busy day

Today is my busiest day ever. In the first time of Intramurals celebration this is the very busiest of all. Because supposedly the intrams should be held September but this year we held it October which is the Month after the City fiesta. The Officers and Staff did not get enough time to prepare for the intramurals because they are still busy preparing the fiesta which had many activities. That is why we (the department officers), are really very busy and we got very tired. And yes, this is a very tiring day.

Oh, I am so tired. I can feel the pain in my hands right now because of making the props for the cheerdance competition. And I hope that we will win. Wish us luck.... tomorrow is the final show..

The Busy Day

Today is Saturday. There is no class because its Saturday but as what I see in the school it seems that it is a school day because I think 55% of the students are here. They are busy making props and chantings for the incoming cheerdance competition this coming Tuesday, October 4, 2005.

Well, me, myself too is busy cooking something for our lunch. I am being assigned in the kitchen. I will cook anything, an undiscover recipe that in they will taste first time in their lives. The Department Mayor is now busy preparing the props which we called "Pompom". It is a metallic paper cut into thin pieces and joined together to make it like a broom. Me, after this cooking I will go to the tailoring of our cheerdance costume to see how it going on, and to know if it is already ready for use, because I think tomorrow will be our dress rehearsal. I hope luck will be ours. More Power computer Department. "We are the Winner".

The Dalit Festival (Feast of St. Michael the Archangel)

Today is the celebration of our city fiesta here in Tangub City. Everybody is so busy. The city is so crowded by people who wish to watch the street dancing and rituals. Though the sun is so hot, they ignore it. Well, the dance is really very nice, this is a part of our tradition here, we have street dancing contest or we call it "Dalit Festival" This is a prayer dance offered to the City's patron Saint Michael De Archangel. September 29 is the festival to Saint Michael.

The dance is very nice. The performers did their best to win the trophy... Our school joined the competition too, they wore a filipiña dress. They look so nice. Ohhh..the drums are so loud...

Mabuhay to Tangub City... I hope that this City will be peacefull forever...

The great raid

There is a great raid happen here in the Philippines. And this is the first time ever happen in the whole Philippines. There is a raid of all computers here, both in school, offices, companies and big stores. It is because of illegal used
of microsoft windows without the permission or license from the original programmer. Some computer operator here are just using a pirated CD which contains a ready-to-install software. NBI's are now doing an investagation regarding this matter. That is why computers here are now temporarily shutdown.

Actually, this happening is s great disturbance in classes, especially in computer majors. The classes are suspended because there is no computer to use. Because the school administrator are being adviced to closed the computer laboratory for a three weeks. And because of this instead of having a semestral break, we will have a make-up class to recap the days that we have no class.

I really hope that this matter will be settle down before the end of the semester...
Because its so hard without computers, I know that most of people are now depending mostly to computers.........

A Helping Hand

In our life there are many problems that will come. Some are just small and some are big. Sometimes, small problems can lead to a greater one.
In those problems, sometimes we need someone to help us to keep firm and strong. But as how firm we are is how hard a problem is.

In my life today, as a graduating student, I may say that studying is one way of figuring our future. But it is not that easy to be a student. As I remember, it is when I was in second year college, I had an assignment that makes my head terribly bad. I had made research, I headed to the library everytime when I had a vacant time. I read but still I cant find the right solution. This assignment really make me cry at that time because I dont really understand it.

In that time, there was always my mother who always supported me. She kept saying to me "God will not give you a problem that you cant handle". She was always with me when I need someone to help me. She always told me to be strong and firm and say "You can do it". Those words were put in my mind, I thought to myself, there were already someone graduated at this subject, "if they can do it then why cant I". So I keep trying, as one time as I was in a room a teacher came and asked me what I do, the I told her. And she help me, I am so glad because finally, I know the answer. And I got it, I can able to understand what it all means....

Now, I know whatever problem came in your life there is always a helping hand that gives a great help. As I know, there is a "Mother of perpetual help" then there is also a "Son of perpetual ask"....

Who are my visitors?

From the time I made this blog, I have no idea who are my visitors... I tried to asked myself, what if I will put a message board here but then.............. I dont know if they will leave a message for me. I keep searching in the net for how to determine visitors, and then I came up in a neocounter that gives the country of the visitor who visits a blog. and not only that it also give the number of your online visitor. I find it great, so I decided to put it in my blog............ and there it is...........
Though I dont know their names atleast I know which country they live... and I am satisfied of what I see....

For all my visitors, enjoy reading my blog... And dont forget to sign to my guessbook...
GOD bless us all!!!

The search is over!

When I was alittle kid, I dont care about the things that I saw in the sorroundings. I just do what I want. If I like to picked flowers then I will. If I like to plant trees I will do it. But as the days passed by I learned to think what the meaning of this things.... But because I was still in a very young age, I dont care about it.. Until one day I am asking myself something that I couldn't know the answer.

When I reached in high school, I keep asking on myself "How these things are really made?" Scientific, theoritical and biblical explaination was not enough for me to understand how these things came out in this world. I keep searching and searching and searching. I read magazines, articles, books and even bible but still I felt the hunger of information. There is something I want to know that I couldn't find an answer. Time had passed and I am tired of searching for reasons. My research was not yet ended and remained hanging. Until the time came that I felt weaken and I want to stop searching. Then I decided to end up there.... I close my research, beside I am satisfied of all the things that I see................

Days, months and years passed by, I totally forgot my research, until one time, when I was in third year high school, in our values education class, we were asked by the instructor to go outside and to observe the sorroundings. While observing, she told us to express our ideas, what we can say of all the things we see, not just the trees, the birds, the flowers that grow and born and will end but also the endless things such as the mountains, the skies, the wind. I think and tried to campare the two. I said: "Man can plant trees and flowers......." but then I looked up in the sky: "Man cannot make skies or even plant mountains". I thought to myself, there is one man behind the scene who mahe these all and put it in a proper place................. And GOD......... He is the only man who can create impossible things that human cannot. And then I conclude that everything in this world was created by GOD the almighty and was according to his will. There are some things that are difficult to determine how they exist or what their origin. But don't bother to ask anymore because "GOD himself has no beginning and has no ending. He is the Alpha and Omega" In that very day, my research was revived but his time it was over. My search is over.

GOD is so good because he give us all things that can make us happy. As I grown up I learned to appreciate all things even little ones. I enjoy counting stars in the night, I love to watched the moon during its full. All things really make me happy. Now I know "How GREAT GOD is."

What is Love, what Love can do?

What is love in your own opinion and what it can do to your life...
This is my opinion of what love really and what it can do to me:

1) Love is Kind.
2) Love can make you cry. It is because if you really love someone but then she never care about your feelings then it can make you cry.
3) Love can hurt.
4) Love can move mountains.
5) Love is blind. For me Love is not really blind but its Lovers who are blind...
6) Love is Promising.
7) Love is flirtitious.
8) Love makes you smile. It can make you smile though you are alone in the room, a sudden thought that came in yur mind that makes you smile.
9) Love can make you crazy.
10) Love is forgiving.
11) Love is jealousy.
12) And above all, Love is one of the most wonderful things that could happen to a person.

In your own point of view What is Love and what it can do? Do Love makes you bored or makes you happy... Hmmmmmmmmm.... What else love can do..?
Well, thats the power of Love... I believe that "Its better to die than to live without love" Love is Precious...

Pool Game

Today is Tuesday and our class was suspended because the teacher are going to have a dance practice for their cultural presentation. Well, because I have nothing to do I play pool in the net which is so fun because everyone in the net are so good when it comes to techniques and styles, that makes me left behind.Actually, I had won four times only for 21 games. Oh my........... imagine! they are so cruel, they dont even give me chance to win just five times. Well, maybe I need practice... Well, I am starting to love this game now but only in the net because in actual I dont know how to shoot or even how to hold the stick...

Thats all for now!!!

The examination....

This week is our examination. Ohhh...gosh....... what a kind of.... ahhh. The exam is really very difficult. When the teacher is out,,,, hah,,,,, everybody is busy cheating, collecting answers. Oh my GOD, I am disappointed. This generation, I can say that students are irresponsible. Well, there's nothing I can do about the issue, they are doing it in order them to pass the subject, right?

Actually, the exam is really something that makes you turn up and down. I hope there is a type of exam which always a "True" or "False" or multiple choice. ... heeheehee. But yes, there is, but the worse is "Right minus Wrong". Meaning if you got fifteen (15) out (30) items, for example, then you are still "Zero (0)". What if you only got ten (10) out of thirty (30) items then meaning to say your score is negative ten (-10). Ohhh, very worse.... Well, all I can say is that, study hard in order you to meet the success. According to our assistant school administrator, Mr. Rosito S. Caang, "Finally, you reach the stage of graduation, for 5 years successfull cheating" I hope that we will not be like this.... GOD Bless!!!

Having a friend!!

You cannot say that you can live alone. You need your fellowmen. You need friends. But how can you have friends? This is how:

1) First, avoid criticizing. Remember that people have feelings. Criticisms often hurt. And it is but natural for a person to get angry with you if you have hurt his feelings. if he's angry with you, how can he be your friend?

2) Second, avoid arguing. You dont have to prove that what a person did or said was wrong. It is possible for a person to admit to his self that he is wrong but he will find it difficult to accept his mistake before others. If you show others that he is wrong, he will find ways to prove that he is right. He will feel very bad because his self-pride was hurt. Instead of having a friend, you will be gaining an enemy.

3) Third, learn to admit your mistake. If you are able to do this, others will have a high regard for you. They will be pleased with you and will praise you because of your outstanding character. Because of this, many will try to be close to you.

4) Fourth, learn to listen. To listen is difficult for a person who usually enjoys talking about his experience and the stories that he had read. Sometimes, he wants to do all the talking. Train yourself to listen well instead of talking often. Show to the person speaking that you are interested in what he's saying. This way you'll please him and he will be happy.

These are the ways of gaining friends and I'm sure that you'll succeed if you do these things. WHy don't you try?

My assignment

I supposed to make a Data Flow Diagram of my documentation of my subject software engineering but I have to finish first my assignment in Math. I love mathematics because I like solving. But sometimes it really makes me hard to find a solution of a certain problem, which has many unknowns. Ohhhh... being a student is not an easy task, if you really devoted to the study. It is not like just going to school to meet new friends or chatting with old friends or classmates. Some students do this, ofcourse. For me, we are sent to school not only to have friends or to be educate, we are here in the school to learn and make it useful for the future. Some educated people have not enough knowledge in their field they are taking. So, while we are here in the school, make use of time in learning more advance techniques, for this may add as an asset of your qualification................. tama ba ito, nakakahiya baka maling mali yong iba kung english...

The Gymnasium....

This is where we often makes our dance practices. We are doing our dance workshop. .. Can u see me in this picture? ... Well................... I am the one who wear that yellow-green shirt. I am facing my friend (Jarvies) I am making jokes with him.... I asked him " How many fish you already caught? heeheehee.......

But this afternoon, the gym is really very crowded... The people are watching the paintings in the wall, because today is also the opening of science centrum... My head is aching because I couldn't see any one of my co-dancers. I dont know where we are going to held our practice.. Maybe I will call my friend and ask....

The "Buwan ng Wika"...

Today, the sun is shining bright... I could even feel it in my skin.... awwwgg.
I am in the school, we are celebrating the "Buwan ng Wika" This is all about refreshing the essence of filipino traditions and cultures. So fun,,, we have many contest. But, though the day is good but I couldn't feel it because I am not feeling well....

I dont know what to write anymore... I have many thoughts but I cannot put it down, my mind is racing very fast.... ahhhhaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhh..........

The Mercy of God....

Many people followed him and he cured them all, though he sternly ordered them not to make public what he he had done. This was to fulfill what had been said through Isaiah the prophet:

" Here is my servant whom I have chosen, my loved one in whom I delight. I will endow him with my spirit and he will proclaim justice to the Gentiles. He will not contend or cry out, nor will his voice be heard in the streets. The bruised reed he will not quench until judgment is made victorious. In his name, the Gentiles will find hope "

Matthew 12:16-21
